Course Objectives

At the end of this session, the learner should be able to:
• Discuss the breadth of the emotional, psychological, social, and physiological impact on patients (and family members) as a result of preeclampsia and related hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP)
• Discuss the impact of patient education on health outcomes and incorporate patient education into his or her practice
• List the ways patients may communicate their complaints to avoid the misdiagnoses often associated with HDPs, especially given how quickly the HDPs may deteriorate
